A sixth-grade boy in the Saturday Nalhub Reading Tutorial , in a rural community in the Dalaguete highlands in southern Cebu, has learned to read. He walks X kilometers in the mountains every Saturday morning to practice reading with friends and his sixth-grade teacher. After coming to the tutorial for 6 months, he is now able to read aloud in front of his friends. PhaseTwoCebu provided the books, bookcases, tables, and floor mats for the Saturday Nalhub Reading Tutorial.

The education landscape:
- Public education is in English in the Philippines
- The majority of schools have no books besides textbooks for children to read
- Many students learn to mechanically read but lack comprehension
- PhaseTwoCebu is attempting to fill this gap by creating small libraries for schools and community settings
- So far, we have created libraries at 75 sites and shipped 100,000 books
