One of our scholars is a new person since receiving a scholarship from PhaseTwoCebuGroup (our organization’s name in Cebu)–at least according to her friends and one of her professors. Before receiving the scholarship, she struggled to make the commute to class, rarely participated in discussions, and was generally anxious about financial matters. Since receiving the scholarship–which covers tuition, books, daily living expenses (food, transportation, etc.)–her whole demeanor has changed and she takes an active role in school activities and classes. She does not have to worry about funds needed for daily life or special expenses which are part of her education. She can concentrate on being a student!

Most of our 14 scholarship recipients are the first in their families to go to college. Colleges and universities in Cebu rarely have dorms and tuition is generally low compared to institutions in the U.S. PhaseTwoCebu’s cost per scholarship–including living and transportation expenses–is roughly $2,000 per student per year.
